From 1869 until 1976, the Gerstlhaus provided a post office with telegraph and telephone exchange service, where Laura Gerstl was the last post-mistress.
Through the switch box of 1910, local calls were connected with plugs of equal colors. Establishing an external call, which needed further exchange via Linz, took about half an hour. At that time, phone calls could be listened in, which was seen as interesting and informative.
